As many of you are probably aware, New York Observer columnist Andre Walker unleashed the wrath of librarians and library advocates on Sunday when he tweeted that, “Nobody goes to libraries anymore.” Walker has since apologized and admitted he was wrong after tens of thousands of people on twitter defended libraries against Walker’s initial claim.
It’s highly encouraging to see such enthusiasm for libraries, and this story illustrates that speaking up can indeed change people’s minds!
