Each week, we reflect on the top articles, blog posts, tweets, news, thoughts, and other tidbits we’ve found interesting or useful. Check out what our writers have spotted this week in library news. Enjoy!

On Monday, Penn Libraries announced that they would be ending their partnership with bepress, the company behind the widely used Digital Commons repository platform. Penn Libraries has dubbed their decision “operation beprexit,” and they are calling on the larger academic community to join them in their move towards open repository solutions.

Penn Libraries’ decision amounts to a response to Elsevier’s acquisition of bepress, which took place in August. In their press release, Penn Libraries refers to the acquisition as a “move toward the consolidation and monopolization of products and services impacting all areas of the research lifecycle.”
