Each week, we reflect on the top articles, blog posts, tweets, news, thoughts, and other tidbits we’ve found interesting or useful. Check out what our writers have spotted this week in library news. Enjoy!
The American Library Association hosted its annual conference this week from June 22-27, 2017 in Chicago, IL. The magazine American Libraries compiled articles recapping select sessions, which you can read here. I personally liked following the hashtag #alaac17 on Twitter, which provided users with a platform to speak, listen, and respond to critiques and praises regarding the conference in real time. Attendees are encouraged to upload their session notes on this google doc, so that those who were #alaleftbehind may benefit from the conference as well. The next ALA Annual Conference (2018) will be held in New Orleans, and the ALA Midwinter Meeting will be in Denver in February 2018. While I am grateful for the opportunity to attend the conference, the highlights of my trip included sleeping, going to museums and libraries, celebrating Chicago Pride, and meeting up with fellow HLS writers Nisha, Stefanie, and Zoë.
