Why libraries still need a place in the world today even though some may argue Google can take the place of the library (spoiler: it can’t). Also, found myself in the middle of a #critlib talk this week on visual literacy.


Calling all artists and book lovers! The Floating Library, an experimental art project, is currently accepting books for its 2016 summer season! The goal is to provide a collection of artist books and printed matter aboard a raft reachable by boat in Lake Phalen, St. Paul, Minnesota. Deadline to submit is June 15, 2016.


The House of Representatives passed a bill this week aiming to force the Library of Congress to use the subject heading “illegal aliens” in their catalog. The LoC announced in March that the they would replace “illegal aliens” with “noncitizens” and “unauthorized immigration.”
