Weekly Roundup!

Editor’s Note: Each week, we reflect on the top articles, blog posts, tweets, news, thoughts, and other tidbits we’ve found interesting or useful. Enjoy!

During the week of January 15-23, Wikipedia is hosting an event called #1Lib1Ref. The idea is for librarians to add one reference to a Wikipedia article. If you’re new to editing Wikipedia, check out this guide for adding references. As a former Wikipedian in Residence, I can assure you that it’s not too hard – and actually kind of fun!

Have some extra books hanging out, gathering dust? Perhaps you should consider donating them to a prison (books chip away at the monotony of prison life). Here are some tips about donating from Book Riot. This week on the Facebook group for my graduate school, this article from Disney was posted. It’s a neat article to think about how we can always try to go above and beyond in a reference interview setting. Also, did you hear, the Library of Congress anoints graphic novelist Gene Luen Yang as Ambassador for Young People’s Literature. And (finally), the New York Public Library digitized some awesome things — definitely worth a visit.
