So I know Banned Books Week was last week, but found this short piece on the week when looking through old emails. Also check out, Books on the L a part of Chicago’s Ideas Week which sounds awesome.

What keeps you awake at night? What do you want for your kids? What do you wish you knew more about? What do you enjoy? These are questions that library consultants Joan Frye Williams and George Needham say are effective for community engagement. Instead of asking people questions about the library (e.g. Would you come to X program? What do you want to see the library do in the future?), Williams and Needham say libraries should ask people about themselves. This is all contained in a webinar (which I think is perfectly on point!) that I came across this week in one of my classes.
