In my library instruction class this week, we heard from Maria T. Accardi and I got a chance to reread her Feminist Pedagogy in Library Instruction (so good). In preparation for Banned Books Week, I’ve been reading a lot of articles about challenged books, including this recent article about students challenging Duke’s administration in reading Fun Home. I also think it’s fun the Strand bookstore is running their own campaign to support reading. Finally, to procrastinate homework, I’m easily convinced to pick up a young adult book and now I have a list to help me make some choices.

This week in my collection development class we have been talking about weeding. Someone pointed out the marvelous blog Awful Library Books, for books that really do need to be weeded…unless your patrons are interested in raising rabbits for profit or are seeking really dodgy parenting techniques.
