Sadly I was #alaleftbehind this past week, so I’ve been living vicariously through livetweets and reflection pieces like Kara’s. This article by a fellow left behind-er gave me a bit of solace. Attending conferences regularly can take a lot out of you, weighing down unfavorably on that work-life scale, and it’s nice to see that being acknowledged. I’m hoping to be able to attend conferences more regularly as a professional, but it’s definitely worth it to consider the pros and cons of frequent conferencing.
Switching gears a bit, I just came across this archived webinar from American Libraries Live about landing your ideal library job. The hosts had some great tips that I’m using for guidance during my current job search, but I highly recommend watching it even if you’re just starting or in the middle of your program.
